International Time Builders — How to verify your foreign pilot certificate

EnvySky welcomes international pilots and provides step-by-step guidance through the FAA verification process so you can start time building efficiently and safely in Florida.

To fly with us as an international pilot, you’ll need to complete the FAA certificate verification (Form 8060-71). Here’s a clear explanation of how to apply online or by mail, what documents are required, and when to contact us for support.

Eligibility Requirements

Before you begin your International Time Building experience with EnvySky, make sure you have:

1. A valid Private Pilot License (PPL).
 

2. Proper renter’s insurance (we recommend Skywatch.AI with monthly plans).
 

3. A completed Bi-Annual Flight Review (BFR).
 

Once these steps are complete, you’ll officially be ready to join EnvySky as an International Time Builder.

Step-by-Step:
FAA Verification

Option A

Recommended: Apply online through IACRA

Step 1:

Visit the FAA IACRA website.

Step 2:

Register as an Applicant and log in.

Step 3:

Select Start Foreign Verification Process and follow the on screen instructions.

Mail Application

Option B

Use this option if you can’t apply online. Allow extra processing time.

Complete the Form 8060-71.

Mail it to:
FAA Airmen Certification Branch
AFB-720, Foreign Verification
P.O. Box 25082
Oklahoma City, OK 73125-0082

Include a copy of your foreign license (and medical certificate if you wish to validate both).

Letter of Authenticity

You may need a Letter of Authenticity in the following cases:

  1. To obtain a Commercial Pilot Certificate (CPL) in the U.S.

  2. To apply for an Instrument Rating without a U.S.-issued PPL.

  3. To add a Multi-Engine Rating to your foreign certificate.

  4. If your foreign license or ratings have changed since your last verification.

  • We recommend applying 45–90 days before your planned arrival in the U.S., as processing times vary by country.

International Time Builders

At EnvySky Corp, we are pleased to welcome international Time Builders. To qualify, you are required to complete the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Verification of Authenticity Form.

We recommend submitting this form online 45 to 90 days before your planned travel to the United States. Please note that processing times may vary depending on the country that issued your license, and it may take longer in some cases.

Aircraft Dispatch for Foreign Pilots
As a foreign pilot, you will gain to one of our time builder planes once you meet the following requirements:

  • Obtain your FAA Private Pilot License (PPL).

  • Secure the appropriate renter’s insurance We recommend Skywatch.AI for monthly payment. 

  • Complete your Bi-Annual Flight Review (BFR).

Once these steps are completed, you officially take on the role of "International Time Builder" for the aircraft throughout your designated time block.

How to Begin the Verification Process
Preferred Method: Online IACRA Application

  1. Visit the IACRA website.

  2. Register for an IACRA “Applicant” account and log in.

  3. Select “START FOREIGN VERIFICATION PROCESS” and follow the prompts to apply.

By Mail

  1. Complete the 8060-71 application form.

  2. Mail it to:
    FAA Airmen Certification Branch
    AFB-720, Foreign Verification
    P.O. Box 25082
    Oklahoma City, OK 73125-0082

    Include a copy of your foreign license. If you wish to verify both your foreign license and medical certificate, also include a copy of your foreign medical.

When Do You Need a Letter of Authenticity?
A letter of authenticity is required in the following cases:

  1. Acquiring a Commercial Pilot Certificate (CPL):

    • The U.S. CPL will be a stand-alone certificate independent of your foreign certificate.

    • To be eligible for the CPL, you must hold at least a Private Pilot Certificate (PPL).

  2. Obtaining an Instrument Rating without an FAA Stand-alone PPL.

  3. Earning a Multi-Engine Rating without a stand-alone U.S. certificate.

  4. U.S. Restricted License (Foreign-Based Validation):

    • Required if your FAA validation or foreign-based license details (license number or type/class ratings) have changed.
